Although we tend to think of holidays as jet-setting across the world, visiting beaches and eating international cuisine, we’re really lucky to live in the UK. There are so many places to visit throughout England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales which means that if you’re looking at booking a staycation you have plenty of choice.
Where To Go
One of the biggest decisions is where to go – because let’s face it, the UK has a little bit of everything on offer. Where you decide to holiday will largely depend on the type of break you’re looking for – for example if you’re looking for a city break then heading to the Lake District isn’t the right direction at all. Consider what sort of holiday you want and what activities you’d like to take part in while you are there & that will give you a good indication of where to head. There are lots of blog posts and travel guides online, so researching your options shouldn’t be too much of a struggle.
What Sort of Accommodation
Once you have decided where you want to go it is time to think about where to stay – again, different areas and different breaks will have different options open to you. For example, you could head on a family holiday to somewhere like a Haven holiday park or you could look up a luxury Cornwall hotel and spa. The good news is that no matter where you have decided to visit, the chances are there will be accommodation options to suit you and your needs.
When To Travel
The last decision is to decide when you want to travel. If you have children then this is likely to be based around school holidays, although of course term-time holidays are generally much more affordable. If you have the luxury of being able to decide then travelling outside of school holidays usually means that holiday accommodation is much quieter – and you’ll pay less to stay there too! Do some research on hotel booking sites and play around with dates, because you’ll be surprised at how much difference a few days can make to the price. You might want to look up any local events that are taking place so that you can be sure to book at a time when you can attend anything that has taken your fancy.
If you have any ideas on things to consider when booking a staycation we’d love you to share them
