Tips For Travelling with Young Children -Whether you’re jetting off on holiday or you need to make a long car journey, it can be hard not to feel stressed at the thought of travelling with young children. Here are some tips that we hope will help!

Tips For Travelling with Young Children

Pack Wisely

What you pack can make a massive difference to how happy everyone stays throughout the journey, so it is worth keeping this in mind and being mindful of what you pack. The age of your children will make a difference, but if they’re old enough then having their own luggage can help – not only does that mean they can help themselves to what they need throughout the journey but it gives them a sense of worth in that they have a job to do. Packing activities, treats, snacks and even a blanket for them can help the journey to be a successful one – pain killers, baby wipes, bottles of water and some backup snacks that no one else knows about in your own luggage can help too!

Pick Your Travel Time

Although it isn’t possible, try and consider what time of day would be best to travel. For example, if you’re driving it is worth considering whether you can make the journey through the night where the children might be more likely to sleep through the whole thing.

Get Them Involved

Children love to be involved in projects and if they are involved are more likely to want to see it through to the end. Get them involved in the journey planning – you can even buy them a map or create a tick sheet for them to watch out for things along the way and tick them off. By getting them involved they’re going to be excited to see the route they ‘helped’ you plan come to life.

Go Easy on Yourselves

All the tips in the world won’t help with a grouchy toddler or a young child that just wants to play – go easy on yourself and know that with all the best will in the world it won’t always go to plan and that is okay.
