With the summer holidays well and truly upon us, your thoughts have probably turned to how you’re going to keep children entertained for the next 6 weeks! Here’s a look at affordable activities for the school holidays.
Share The Load
Remember, however you are feeling your friends that are parents will be feeling the same. It is worth getting together with local parents and working out a way to share the load – for example, you could take turns looking after all of the children. This gives the kids a chance to play together, but for parents to have a break too – which is often most needed during the busy school holidays.
Picnics in the Park
Trips to the park often cost very little and gives you a chance to get out of the house. You’re going to need to feed the little ones anyway, so pack up whatever you were going to make for lunch, grab a bottle of juice and take a football with you – find a spot with some shade and park yourself there for the afternoon, everyone will have fun!
Free Local Events
There are likely to be plenty of free local events that you can take advantage of. Your local newspaper and local Facebook groups are a great way to find out about what is going on, what tickets you might need and how you can get involved. This is a great way to meet new people too, so win-win!
Fun At Home
Don’t feel like you need to have days out all of the time, children need to learn to self entertain too! Treasure hunts, making a den, baking a cake and even a movie ay are all things they can do at home which are affordable and don’t need you to be too involved in, so you get to have a rest too – perfect!
