All relationships have their ups and downs – life gets busy, we change as people and we get a little complacent in our relationship. These aren’t usually a big deal and there are often ways to communicate better and deal with this. However, sometimes there are bigger issues – illness, family worries and even fertility. Even though the sensible part of us knows that these are things we should deal with as a team, sometimes when relationships get tricky that can seem impossible.
When things start to pile up, even if we’re dealing with them WITH our significant other it becomes easy to take things out on them & that is when things can get tricky. It is the big things like death, money worries and fertility that can leave us feeling as though we want to battle everyone – including our partner. The problem is that shouting and getting upset with other people very rarely makes us feel better; instead, it is communicating and coming up with a plan of action that can really help to improve things.

Improving Things
There isn’t really anyone that would suggest talking to your partner is the answer to everything & will fix all the problems, but it has to be better than arguing. Proxeed recently released a company about the importance of communication for couples dealing with fertility issues – although to be honest, their tips work well for a range of relationship problems. They talk about the things couples are likely to argue about – when to seek help, discussing their problems with other people, misunderstanding what the other one is saying, money troubles and even sexual problems. These are all topics that aren’t necessarily the easiest to bring up in conversation but are much better if you and your partner can deal with them as a team rather than fighting about the best way forward.
They give advice on how to look after yourself and each other when things are becoming strained – for example, when you’re waiting for the results of fertility treatment, which is going to be a time full of worry and stress. Their hints and tips can be used in many scenarios and are definitely worth exploring the relationships get tricky for any reason – check out their campaign here
