Whether you’re visiting The Grand National, or another horse racing event it is the perfect opportunity to get dressed up and enjoy yourself – but it can be hard to know what to wear! We thought we’d cover some styling tips to help make life a little easier.

Choosing What To Wear

The great thing about going to the races is that plenty of people get dressed up, so you can choose what to wear and you won’t stand out. If you haven’t been to a horse racing event before then it is a good idea to have a Google and look at previous events so you can see what the crowd usually wears & this can help with your styling choices. Of course, the time of year you are going to the races will affect what you want to wear too – for example, what you wear in July will be different to what you might want to wear in November. The Grand National takes place next week & we all know that the weather has been someway interchangeable in the last few weeks, so being prepared for all eventualities is a must!

Making Sure You’re Comfortable

One thing to keep in mind is that The Grand National is a pretty long day, so you’ll want to make sure that you’re dressed comfortably – especially when it comes to footwear, as you might be on your feet for a big chunk of the day. It is all well and good wearing something that you love the look of, but if it is uncomfortable then you won’t be able to concentrate on the day as much as you would like to. Instead, make sure that you wear something comfortable, with shoes that don’t dig in and you’ll find it much easier to have a day that you enjoy at the horses. If you do insist on wearing something like uncomfortable heels or a dress that digs in then consider what you can pack in your bag with you to get changed into if things get too much – for example, a pair of flat shoes for when your feet can’t handle being uncomfortable in heels any longer!

Accessorising

Whatever you choose to wear, accesorising is the ultimate way to finish an outfit. If you’re planning to go all out with what you wear then some sparkly jewellery is a must. In fact, vintage jewellery can be the perfect addition to any outfit so is a great choice. One of the best things about vintage jewellery is that it comes in all sorts of shapes, sizes and styles so whatever you have in mind for your jewellery tastes you’;l be able to find something to suit. Investing in vintage jewellery often means that you have a statement piece that you can keep forever and wear for special occasions, lasting much longer than fast-fashion jewellery. Finish your Grand National outfit with a pair of vintage earrings or an antique necklace and you can be sure to feel stylish the whole day long!
