We’re all well aware of the rising cost of energy bills & the fact that it’s going to cost us a little more to run our homes over the winter. However, there are ways to save money and an air fryer is often more energy efficient than switching on the oven. Here are some easy air fryer recipes to help

Chips
Whilst chips might not seem the most exciting thing to be able to cook in an air fryer, one of the best things about it is that you can make so many varieties. We prefer homemade chips, with the skin on cut into chip shapes or wedges. Cut them about an hour before you need them and put them in a bowl of cold water to soak. When you’re ready to cook them, drain the water, pat dry and add some cooking oil – and whatever seasoning you want; go wild! Put them into the air fryer for around 20 minutes, but stir them every 5-6 minutes to ensure that they’re cooked evenly and you’re done – easy, tasty chips that you can season to suit your tastes.
Gammon
Cooking a gammon is so easy in an air fryer – especially if your air fryer is a multicooker and you can pressure cook it first. However, even if you can’t, then simply put some foil in the bottom of your air fryer and add the gammon, cook it for around 30 minutes on a lowish heat – you might want to flip it over once halfway. Once this is done you want to then season or glaze with your choice of topping – honey, mustard, salt, pepper – whatever you want and air fry it for around another 10 minutes. The cooking time will vary depending on the size of your gammon joint, so just keep an eye on it. When it’s cooked you can leave it to rest while you cook some chips using the recipe above e and you’re on track for a decent dinner.
Roast Chicken
Cooking a roast chicken is a great way to get a few days’ dinner in the winter – after all, what’s better than a roast dinner on a Sunday and then stew on Monday? However, roasting a chicken in the oven takes time and that is costly. Pop your chicken in the air fryer (breast side down) and season, cook it for around 25 minutes and then flip it over and cook it breast side up for 25 minutes and you should be done. If you have room then you can add potatoes and even stuffing in down the side of the chicken, increase the cooking time and everything should be cooked at the same time.
