With the cold weather here and heating bills on the rise, damp could become a serious problem for people who don’t put steps in place to tackle it. The good news is that if you do want to deal with damp within your house, there are plenty of ways to do it – here are some easy ones that anyone can use.

Dry Your Washing Outside
At this time of year, many people assume that drying wet washing inside the house is the only way forward. A majority of people save their washing line days for warm sunny days, which seriously impacts their ability to dry washing effectively. Actually, if you pay attention to the weather and move your washing outside you’ll be pleasantly surprised at just how drying you can do outside. Of course, no one suggests that you hang your washing out when it is wet. Instead, look for those cool days with a bit of a breeze. You might not get your washing bone dry hanging it outside in winter. However, taking the edge off of the wetness really helps.
Dehumidifiers
Most people know that dehumidifiers are great for taking the dampness out of the air. Using them to keep your home damp free is essential, but can be costly. Did you know that you can get disposable ones at a cheap cost? In fact, bargain shops often have these for £1! It might not solve all of your damp issues, but it can certainly help while you work out a better solution.
Open a Window
Keeping the air moving within all the rooms in your home is a must. At this time of year, it is tempting to keep all the windows shut in order to keep the house warm but this causes condensation which of course, leads to damp. Instead, it is much better to crack open a window when you can and get the air circulating. Air moving around is the best way to tackle damp.
