If you have the budget to redesign your kitchen then it stands to reason that you are going to want everything to be as perfect as possible. The great thing about redesigning your kitchen (or if you rent and your landlord is giving your kitchen a makeover) is that you can literally have it exactly as you want which doesn’t often happen to standard kitchens, even in homes that are ultra-modern. So what things should you consider:
Lighting
Make sure you consider what your kitchen is going to be like all year round especially if you are redesigning your kitchen in the summer months. It is all well and good having plenty of natural light flooding your countertops during June and July but can the same be said for December and January? Instead, make sure you look at lighting options for your whole kitchen so it is as lit as you need it to be, all year round. LED lights are a great option and come in all shapes and sizes which means that when buying LED strip lights you can be confident there will be something to perfectly suit you and your needs. These are great for things like under kitchen countertops and even inside cupboards to allow darker parts of your kitchen to receive more light.
Counter Space
Without a doubt you need to give consideration to counter space – how much you have now & how much more you think you will need. We tend to have kitchens filled with gadgets and gizmos, so having plenty of space to use these without the kitchen feeling too cluttered is a must.
Storage
On top of that, you should give thought to storing items when you are not using them, as well as groceries and utensils etc. If you have space for it then a really nice idea is to incorporate a pantry into your kitchen, but this isn’t possible in all kitchens so work with what you have to create the perfect space for you. There are really clever storage and cupboard products out there so some research on these is recommended.
Flooring
The overall look of your kitchen is important too – and the flooring makes up a big part of this! So, have a think about what sort of flooring you want – in both terms of what looks good and what is practical alongside what fits your budget. There are lots of flooring options out there so finding something to suit should not be too much of a struggle.
